CPU, GPU and case fans, together

Most Windows PCs end up running one utility for the motherboard headers, another for the graphics card and a third for the AIO pump. Fan Control replaces that patchwork with a single app that reads temperatures from every sensor it can find and drives every fan it can reach. Treat cooling and noise as one system instead of three: tune CPU fan control, GPU fan control and case airflow from the same window.

Every parameter you could want

If you like to dig in, the settings are all exposed: per-fan calibration for true RPM targets, RPM avoid zones, response time, hysteresis and its direction, step-up and step-down limits, and a separate start and stop percentage so fans can idle at 0 RPM (on hardware that allows it). Mix curves change everything

Case fans should not follow a single sensor. A Mix fan curve takes several existing curves, each tied to its own temperature source, and merges them with a function such as maximum or average. The result is one output that reacts to the CPU during a compile, to the GPU during a game, and to the SSD during a long file copy, without you switching profiles. It is the feature the project was started for.

Extend it with plugins

Hardware that the core app does not read yet can still join the party. The .NET plugin system lets third-party developers expose extra temperature, speed and control sensors, and installing a plugin means copying one DLL into the plugins folder. Community plugins cover things like certain laptops, USB controllers and smart-home sensors; the current list lives on the GitHub releases page.

Built on an open-source foundation

Sensor and fan access comes from LibreHardwareMonitor, the actively maintained open-source fork of OpenHardwareMonitor. Because that layer is public, support for a new motherboard chip or GPU generation can be contributed by anyone rather than waiting on one vendor. Together with plugins, that keeps Fan Control useful across many hardware generations on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Getting started on Windows

Download the archive or installer, run it as administrator, and let the guided setup pair each fan header with its speed sensor. From there, pick a temperature source for every control, assign a curve, and watch the live readouts to confirm the fan reacts. Windows 11 and Windows 10 compatibility

Fan Control is a native Windows desktop app built on .NET, and it runs on both current versions of Windows on 64-bit hardware. It talks to motherboard sensor chips, NVIDIA and AMD graphics drivers and popular AIO coolers through LibreHardwareMonitor. Nothing is published for macOS or Linux. Missing fans usually come down to one of three things: the app was not started with administrator rights, a vendor utility such as Armoury Crate, iCUE or Dragon Center is holding the fan headers, or the motherboard sensor chip is not yet supported.
